A Zimbra SNMP flaw is now being exploited in real-world attacks. The issue affects Zimbra Collaboration and can lead to remote code execution.

The vulnerability is tracked as CVE-2026-73570. In addition, it has a CVSS score of 8.9. Since active attacks have been observed, Zimbra administrators should check their servers immediately.

How Does the Zimbra SNMP Flaw Work?

The problem affects SNMP notification processing. Zimbra does not properly filter some untrusted input.

As a result, an attacker can send a specially crafted SMTP request. The server may then run operating system commands as the Zimbra user.

However, not every Zimbra server is affected. The flaw applies when the zimbra-snmp package is installed and SNMP notifications are enabled.

Affected Zimbra Versions

CVE-2026-73570 affects Zimbra Collaboration versions before 10.1.20.

Fortunately, Zimbra has already released a fix in version 10.1.20. Therefore, users running older versions should update as soon as possible.

In addition, CISA has added the flaw to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. This confirms that attackers are using the issue in real attacks.

Signs of Possible Compromise

Administrators should review /var/log/zimbra.log. For example, look for unusual service restarts or other unexpected activity.

Also, check for new or unknown files in these folders:

/opt/zimbra/jetty/webapps/

/opt/zimbra/jetty_base/webapps/

/tmp/

Unknown files in these locations may indicate that the server has already been compromised.

What Should Administrators Do?

First, update to Zimbra 10.1.20 or later.

Next, review logs and server files for signs of attack. If suspicious activity appears, investigate the server before considering it safe.

Finally, check whether the zimbra-snmp package is really needed. Removing unused services can help reduce the attack surface.

Key Takeaway

The Zimbra SNMP flaw CVE-2026-73570 needs immediate attention. It can allow an attacker to run commands without logging in.

Since active exploitation has already been confirmed, organizations should not delay the update. Administrators should also review logs and files for signs of compromise.
