Usai meluncurkan seri prosesor laptop baru pada Agustus lalu, pekan ini intel meresmikan jajaran chip desktop Core i Generasi ke-8. Lini prosesor tersebut mencakup ketiga seri Core i3, Core i5, dan Core i7.
Di bawahnya, ada chip quad-core (4 inti CPU dan 4 thread) Core i3-8100 yang memiliki base clock 3,6 GHz, Smart Cache 6 MB, dan dukungan memori dual-channel DDR4-2.400 MHz.
Di urutan teratas keluarga prosesor baru tersebut ada Core i7-8700K yang dibekali base clock 3,7 GHz, Smart Cache 12 MB, dan multiplier terbuka untuk menggenjot kecepatan lebih jauh melalui overclocking.
Dengan 6 inti CPU dan 12 thread, Core i7-8700K diklaim sebagai “chip gaming terbaik” yang menawarkan kinerja hingga 45 persen lebih tinggi dibandingkan chip generasi sebelumnya, Core i7-7700K yang memiliki CPU 4 core dan 8 thread.
emua model dari jajaran chip desktop Intel Core generasi ke-8 ini menggunakan kemasan soket LGA 1151 dan dipasangkan dengan chipset Intel Z370, bukan Z270 seperti yang digunakan prosesor berbasis Kaby Lake.
Chipset Intel Z370 mendukung memori DDR-4 hingga 2.666 MHz serta 40 jalur (lane) PCI-e 3.0. Intel mengklaim sekarang sudah ada 50 desain motherboard dan sistem berbasis chipset Z370 yang siap mengakomodir chip desktop Intel Core generasi ke-8.
Total terdapat 8 model prosesor intel Core Generasi ke-8 yang diperkenalkan dalam kesempatan kali ini. Rentang harganya antara 117 dollar AS (Rp 1,5 juta) hingga 359 dollar AS (Rp 4,7 juta) dengan TDP 65 hingga 95 watt.
